Information about the Arizona Humane Society

Founded in 1957, Arizona Humane Society is a private nonprofit organization. It was created by a group of compassionate volunteers who found it important to end animal suffering. It started with opening shelters for abandoned or unwanted animals so that they could be lovingly adopted. From pet sitting to medical care, every pet deserves individual love and care, and so thereafter it began to expand and become more than an adoption center. The Arizona Humane Society added humane-education and inexpensive spay/neuter services in the community. An ambulance for animals was established as well as a television show called Pets on Parade.

The center continued to grow and have established the Second Chance Animal Hospital , Foster Care Program as well as the Mobile Spay/Neuter and Animal Wellness Center . They have lobbied for new laws and have achieved success in several campaigns including winning approval for Arizona 's first 'animal friendly' license plate and banning blood sports such as cock fighting and dog fighting.

The Arizona Humane Society envision to "a world in which all people regard companion animals as lifelong, valued family members; embrace their responsibility for the welfare of animals; and respect, value and protect the animals with whom we share this earth".
